Attitudes Needed In Congregational Work

p1010694

Sunday August 17th

INTRODUCTION
As Christians work together in a local congregation, the right attitudes are necessary…
With the right attitudes, our efforts in service to the Lord are enhanced and live up to their full
potential
In what areas should we be concerned about our attitudes?
-Our attitude toward God
-Our attitude toward ourselves as individuals
-Our attitude toward our brethren
-Our attitude toward the work we do together as a church
– In a least these four areas disciples, we must be sure to maintain the proper attitudes

ATTITUDES TOWARD GOD
LOVE…
- We must have the right kind of love toward God
- Jesus defined that kind of love in Mt 22:37
– Do we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind?
FAITH AND TRUST…
- Faith is a strong conviction and trust in things one does not see - He 11:1
- Without faith, it is impossible to please God - He 11:6
– Do we have the kind of faith which pleases God? If not, cf. Ro 10:17

Lead Minister Michael Orieny

THANKFULNESS…
- Every Christian should have “the attitude of gratitude” - cf. Co 3:17; Ep 5:20
- God’s righteous indignation is toward those who have become unthankful - cf. Ro 1:18-21
– An attitude of thankfulness for the blessings we have will help allay the bitterness
that often destroys the spirit in any congregation
[If our relationship with God is right, it increases the likelihood that our relationship with others will be
smooth as well (cf. Pro 16:7). What also helps are the proper… Read the rest of this entry »

God Is Calling You

admin | August 25, 2008

“God Is Calling You!”
. First Peter chapter 1 and verse 18.
Peter writes to these Christians, and he says these words: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God”. A Plan And Purpose In Our Pain

admin | August 10, 2008

Is there a plan and is there a purpose in suffering? We ask - you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t ask - why?

Recent Sunday Service

We’re turning again to 2 Corinthians and chapter 1, Reading from verse 1: “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia: Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, Read the rest of this entry »

Today marks fifteen months since the Spirit planted the City of Angels International Christian Church on May 6, 2007! Since that time God has added to our 42 member Mission Team from Portland, 121 baptisms and 62 restorations! Draw near to God

admin | August 3, 2008

You can’t have the promise of God drawing near unto you, until you fulfill the command of drawing near unto God

Now we’re turning in our Bibles to that passage that I mentioned to you from James chapter 4. Our text is verse 8, but we’ll take time to read the context of the passage right down to verse 11 from verse 1 . James chapter 4 verse 1: “From whence”, from where, “come wars and fightings among you?” - now he’s talking to believers now. They’re fighting - and they’re still fighting today! Where do all these quarrels, squabbles, come from among you? “Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?”. ‘Pleasures’ the margin says - now that means, and we’re not going to digress here, but think about this for a moment: lust has more of a negative meaning, doesn’t it? But pleasure - we tend to like pleasure, don’t we? Now that means that there are people among us, we’ll not name any names, but there are people among us who love to quarrel and to fight. It’s a pleasure to them, they satisfy themselves bickering and moaning.

Now, James is saying: “[This is what your lust is like:] Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not”, verse 3, this is the reason they don’t have even when they do ask, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts”. Our Sunday Service

admin | July 26, 2008

firstservice.jpgThey devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47

Sunday service was wonderful as can be seen in the photograph. God is increasing in our attendance here in Nairobi! So far we’ve finished the translation of the First principles to SWAHILI in order to benefit the Tanzanian people whose majority speak it in addition to their native languages. We are left with typing the entire book that may take some time as well but it will be on our website soon.

Finally may the will of our Lord Jesus Christ alone be done.  We are grateful for the business woman who paid for the meeting room where we held our services - as we could not fit in everyone in our home.
